Description
This middle school ELA Valentine's Day packet (it is both printable and Google ready!) is perfect to use in class the week of Valentine’s Day! Included you will find a Common Core based reading lesson in which students read a poem titled “Cupid Stung”. Students will complete a choral read, work with a partner or individually (if you prefer) to paraphrase each stanza, and then after reading it once more independently answer text dependent questions on their own. The questions are now on a Google Form too!
All handouts are ready for you to print and use! No prep is needed.
Answer keys are included for the paraphrasing and the questions.
Three fun poetry writing lessons are included in this packet as well. Students will write a Valentine’s “I Am” poem, a Valentine’s Day Cinquain, and Conversation Hearts Haiku. For the Conversation Hearts haiku, you can either buy the conversation hearts candy or use the cute cut-out ones that we provide in the packet.
All instructions are provided on ready-made handouts and on Google Slides.
Again, there is no prep for you! A sample “I Am” poem and Conversation Heart Haiku are provided for you as well.
Valentine’s Day paper and blank Google Slides are also included for each poem; just print or download to Google Classroom and allow students to write their final poems inside pretty frames.
